Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gennadi Rozhdestvenky
Melodiya CM 04117/8 -&- CM 02175/6.
Post-1974 pressings. Symphony recorded: 1962 - (Orchestral pieces -1970 release: used as fillers for ASD's... Spendiarov with this Taneiev - Glazounov with Symphony 4 (Rachlin: below) Tchaikovsky with Svetlanov/ASD2799 and the Scriabin with his Symphony 1/Svetlanov.
No auto de-click (IMO marginally messes the sound) +<1.5dB Treble. Sleeve-notes + labels + 1975 Hi-Fi News review of the ASD/Taneiev >>>
Once again - Thank you! I've been looking for the Rozhdestvenky Spendiarov for a long time. The added Gliere and Taneiev are equally welcome. Enjoy basking in the old pre-digital Melodiya era.
ReplyDeleteDidn't realise it was Spendiarov that was of interest: now you can see the Melodiya LP-contents -dubbed all except Glazounov.
DeleteThought of adding the 2xTchaikovsky's to the really excellent/nicely recorded 1965 Arvid Yansons Tchaik Suite 1 (SXLP30244) which had 2 'Dmitri the Impostor' fillers by Akulov (also ASD3502:Kalinnikov Sym1 has 2x early Tchaik conducted by Lazarev)..
Shame the ASD Bournemouth's (Brusilow/Berglund) of Borodin Sym2 +RK/Balakirev/Prokofiev are less than 'intense'.
Hi Ti, Hope you are well. BUT, as far as I can tell, the 5 files zip 24/48 XR FLAC MediaFire Download link for the Spendiarov etc. leads back to the Taneyev. Or is it just me? Regards, David.
ReplyDeleteNope:- bit-of-a-mixup (x2)
DeleteTaneiev 24bit led to Arensky Sym1 etc(!) - and that 24bit Taneiev link became the 24bit Spendy/Gliere's .....
Now corrected. Caused by copy/pasting into a truncated link button (instead of the very long link-name).
Arguably, Melodiya LP's don't warrant 24-bit (as opposed to the, mostly, greater-detailed HMV/Melodiya's).
These are wonderful transfers of much interest. Many thanks for the time and effort put into them. p.f.r.
ReplyDeleteThe Taneiev rather improved after I'd heard it (more than..) a couple of times!
DeleteNot sure about his 2nd Symphony - nor Kalinnikov/Liapunov Sym 1/2 (Svetlanov HMV+Melodiya).
Retaining the above hereabouts as its been quite popular.
Intend the excellent ASD Liadov (Svetlanov) + Ivanov's versions (ASD Tchaik 1+3 fillups) - some time.
Great upload! Could we also have the rest of the "Orchestral Pieces by Russian and Soviet Composers"?
ReplyDeleteAs mentioned on this blog/comments....... all the other tracks are here - with the exception of the Scriabin + Liadov.
DeleteThe Glazunov is in the compilation, below; but it's coupled with Sym.4/Rachlin.
The Tchaikovsky is in the Suite 1/Jansons post, above..
Had intended adding those 2 (though no great loss, IMO !!) if I'd got around to uploading the excellent ASD/Svetlanov - as mentioned (in comments).
