  1. Thanks very much. Interesting to compare Decca pressing with US Turnabout and the CD reissue.

    1. Hello Ron: I get the distinct impression my 'comments' are somewhat unwanted! (only yesterday one of those YouTube purveyors of Piquant Delicacies - Mr 'Pressing Matters' - removed my remark that the Mehta/Varese Decca had 'overly processed' sound!).
Decca did nice transfers on their mastered 'Turnabout' series - have over 100+...did think of uploading the MIT/Epstein: Copland Dance Sym/Piston Flutist - likely not on CD?

    2. The Epstein would be very interesting to hear. Your transfer of the Decca LP is definitely more pleasant than the drier, more forward Vox 1991 CD release of this material. As you no doubt know, Vox has released some nicely remastered CDs of St. Louis Symphony recordings produced by Aubort and Nickrenz (the Utah Symphony ones are less impressive) but that apparently has not been finacially viable. The newer reissues, like the Johanos Copland and Ives, are digital downloads only and identical to the original remastering. Your transfer here is the best I've heard.

  2. Will (quickly..) do the Copland/Piston; a 1978 LP so should be easy (bought the Piston Golden Imports/ Hanson some 45 years back - also have 1960 EMI single-sided EFR 'tests' - sadly MONO..
Nice the Copland transfer sounds OK: used a Decca PU (though I doubt Mr.'Better' Port appreciated the comparison !!).
