Leningrad Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yuri Temirkanov
HMV/Melodiya ASD 3705 1979 LP/matrices: 2YRM1558/9 -2. (No re-eq/auto de-click) Sleeve-note / EMG+HFN reviews >>>
WOW! Goes to the top of my list. Dramatic, rhythmically driven - true Russian view of how this piece should be played. Thank you for sharing this. Any other HMV/Melodiyas you offer gratefully appreciated.
ReplyDeleteAnnoyingly missed a few teensy transient thingies near side 1 end - despite mucho effort! (as usual, only revealed on foobar).
DeleteUploaded this as recently listened: recording slightly 'dense' (tho' trumpet @ end goes over 22kHz) - as you say - very dramatic playing.
Maybe do Le Cid/Faust/Zampa (Khaikin/Rozhdestvensky) ?
Subtle request: Gliere The Bronze Horseman Ballet LP Melodiya Zuraitis - Bolshoi. Rare recording of the complete ballet.
ReplyDeleteAs mentioned my HMV/Melodiya's are far from comprehensive: only have (complete) Zuraitis "Spartacus" + Prokofiev R&J.
DeleteMany titles were very quickly deleted: so what I have (100+) is mostly from auctions - now some 20-25 years back.
Did suggest "Symphonyshare". Rozhdestvensky's Sibelius Sym cycle recently appeared (Venezia CD) - but I only have Sym1/VC.
Jansons' Tchaikovsky Suite 3 LP (Ariola) earlier this month; out of curiosity downloaded it - but it was sonically buggered up with n-r/declick!!
Have Temirkanov's 3x ASD (RPO: - playing without the 'fire' of a Russki orchestra) - and Alexeev I don't appreciate (Rach PC2/Prokofiev PC2/3) + the CFP of Rach Sym 2 - DMM mastered.
DeleteExcelente grabación, muchas gracias por compartirla.
